What should recruiters focus on in 2025?

2024 was a challenging year for recruiters, 2025 is already a volatile and uncertain year but these market conditions bring opportunities. In 2025, it's all about your mindset: stay positive, look for how you can bring value, and make a commodity of everything. Your market knowledge, your network, your client base. This is your time to shine!

If you could give one piece of advice to the industry, what would it be?

Focus on relationships over transactions. In a world increasingly driven by technology and automation, human connection remains our biggest differentiator. Whether it’s with hiring managers, candidates or your colleagues, investing in meaningful, transparent partnerships is what will set recruiters apart. Success in recruitment isn’t just about filling roles; it’s about building trust and leaving a lasting impact on every interaction.

What would be the one lesson you would share from 2024 based on your professional activities?

2024 showed us that adaptability is the lifeblood of recruitment. Market conditions changed rapidly, and the organisations that thrived were those that embraced flexibility—rethinking strategies, leveraging data, and aligning hiring goals with business needs. I also learned the power of upskilling recruiters to think strategically rather than tactically. Recruitment teams that approached hiring with a consultative mindset, grounded in data and insights, unlocked incredible results. The lesson? Stay curious, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo.

What is your opinion on AI? Is it taking away from recruiters' jobs? Where can you add value in recruitment selection?

AI isn’t taking away jobs, it’s taking away inefficiency. The beauty of AI lies in its ability to automate repetitive tasks, freeing recruiters to focus on what truly matters: building relationships, understanding candidate motivations, and partnering with hiring managers to make strategic decisions. However, AI can’t replace human intuition, empathy, and judgment. Where recruiters add value is in asking the right questions, spotting potential beyond a CV, and shaping the candidate experience into something extraordinary. The future isn’t AI vs. recruiters; it’s AI with recruiters.

What was the motivation or goal that started you on this path?

My motivation has always been rooted in the belief that people are the heartbeat of any organisation. Early in my career, I saw firsthand how impactful a great hire could be, not just for the company, but for the individual too. That realisation sparked a passion for helping recruiters and hiring teams find alignment between organisational needs and human potential. I’m driven by the idea that, when done right, recruitment isn’t just about filling roles. It’s about transforming lives and shaping the future of work.
